A bedtime story for Luna

Murals

There was once a young lady named Luna. She explored the forest near her home every day. She would collect berries, flowers, and plants of all sorts to make paint, she was an artist.

The canvases she chose for her murals, were enormous boulders scattered along the bluff lines.

Luna chose to paint portals to different worlds.

Peppered across the landscape were diverse panoramas.

One mural was a desert with gigantic pyramids, while another was an underwater kingdom with giant spires covered in coral.

Though her favorite was an enchanted rainforest, with a shimmering blue waterfall, and beautiful colorful birds.

One morning a blue winged faerie was strolling through the forest and came across Luna's favorite boulder. She was in awe at the beautiful landscape before her. Wishing it were real, she whispered a spell and laid her hand upon the rocks face. The painting rippled out like water at her touch, the colors become ever more vibrant, and then it was still again.

The faerie looked both ways, and then slowly pressed her hands against the boulder. Magically, the rock began to give and the faeries hands popped into the painting, with the rest of her slowly following.

She emerged into the enchanted rainforest, it was even more beautiful from the inside. She dipped her toes into the shimmering water, and smelled giant lilies.

Luna was taking a walk through the forest when she came upon her favorite mural, the enchanted rainforest. Though, something new drew her eye this time, for there was someone tiny, and blue, sitting at the waters edge.

She had to investigate. As she brought her face closer, she couldn't believe her eyes, there was a tiny faerie in her painting.

Even more baffling, she was moving! Luna reached out to touch the painting, and as her finger pressed against the rock, the face rippled like water.

She quickly pulled her finger back, and her jaw dropped.

As the painting returned to normal, she put her open hands against it and slowly pressed. It gave way to her far easier than she had expected, and she tumbled forward into the mural.

Luna regained get balance and looked around in wonder. She was in an entirely different world. Her newest arrival, the blue faerie, was waving her over.

"Hello! I'm Luna! " She shouted excitedly.

The faerie smiled, "Hello. My name is Nova."

As Luna approached her, she inquired, "How have you managed to get into my painting? How have I gotten into my painting?!"

"I loved your work so much, I enchanted it and brought it to life." the faerie explained.

Luna gasped, "That's amazing! I wonder if you can bring all of my murals to life!" Nova chuckled, "I can do that. But unfortunately, I've gotten myself stuck in this one. There doesn't appear to be a way out."

Luna scanned the surroundings, there didn't seem to be anything but an endless forest.

She thought for a moment. What had gotten them here in the first place?

"An enchanted painting!" Luna exclaimed, startling Nova.

"Why, yes.. That's where we are." Nova replied with wide eyes.

"I'm sorry." replied Luna. "I mean, I'll make a painting of the real world, and you can enchant that to take us back!"

Nova perked up, "That's a great idea!"

Luna found a large tree and painted a big red door on it. Nova came and whispered her magic spell, and together they pushed through the painting, emerging out the front door of Luna's cottage.

"It worked!" Luna screamed with joy.

Nova was jumping up and down. "Hooray!"

"Can we enchant the rest of my murals?!" Luna asked excitedly.

"Let's go!" yelled Nova.
